140.05 A school in the village of Kennet, built by Robert Bruce, Esqr., of Kennet House. The building Consists of the schoolroom, the teacher's apartments, and a large room set apart, in which female children are taught sewing &c. Mr Bruce contributes, voluntarily, £25 a year towards its support; this sum together with £10 from Government, and the school fees, gives the Schoolmaster a Salary of about £50. Education afforded: - English reading, writing and arithmetic; French and Latin. Average attendance 30 - Unendowed.
