Note Name appears to bear some relation to the Gaelic Tharsgeir pronounced Harsgeir or Harsker which applied to the Long Island of Rocks that are in the offing [--] bays and much exposed to the ocean surf. The literal meaning of Tharsgeir is - Cross Rock.
