040 A large village situated in the upper part of Banffshire and near the centre of Kirkmichael Parish, it consists of one long street intersected near the middle by a square, and contains several substantial private houses. the public buildings are the Church & Manse, R.C. [Roman Catholic] Chapel, the Richmond Hall and three good Inns, &c.
