006.09 All that remains of this Ancient stronghold is a confused heap of half vitrified stones partly covered with vegetation and surrounded by faint traces of a Fosse. very little is Known of its history but it is generally supposed to have been built by the Scots for the protection of the coast from the inroads of the Danes, its natural position is very strong being on the Summit of A hill protected at All points by precipitous Sides.
