006.05 | The remains of what is Supposed to have been the ancient residence of the Thane of Lightnot, all that now remains is an irregular green mound. The following extract is from Pratts history of Buchan P. [Page] 184. "On the high grounds above Crovie are the lands of Lethnot, described as "three oxgangs, lying by the sea, between the Church of Gamrie & Troup." These were given to the MonKs of St Mary, at Kinloss in Moray, by Robert Corbett, probably in the reign of David I. There was also a Castle here formerly." |
