006 ; 007 ; 010 ; 011 | A parish in the district of Cunningham, Ayrshire bounded on the North by the parish of Largs; on the east by Dalry; on the South east by Ardrossan; and on all the other sides by the Firth of Clyde. Its extreme length from North to South is about 6 miles; its medium breadth may be about 2½ miles, where broadest, perhaps 3½ miles, extending in all to about 8650 acres Scotch measure. The Island of 'Little Cumbray' lies about midway betwixt the southern part of the island of Bute, and the promontory of Portincross , in this parish distant from either about 2½ miles, It is, however, attached to the parish of W. [West] Killbride Only Quoad Sacra; civilly and politically it forms part of the shire of Bute. There is no part of the parish of W. [West] Kilbride situated within any other parish, and no part of any other parish situated within it. |
