038 A Small rocky Knoll precipitous on all Sides and about fifteen feet in height from its base. A flagstaff Stood on the top at one time. " The isolated Conical mount on which the flagstaff is erected at Dunure, near the mouth of the harbour is called Port Rorie, evidently meaning the port of McCrorie or Kennedy"Patterson's History of Ayrshire'.
