It is Situated in the Old Part of the Town and in the Townhead District; and Was one of the Principal Streets About the middle of the 18th Century;- The Houses are One & two Storeys high, thatched, and in middling repair, and are very Clumsy & irregularly built. -

018 This street is also Situated on the Old part of the Town & the Street & houses are Somewhat Similar to those of High Street, it is a Continuation of the latter Street and extends to its junction with Fore Street and Back Street;- there is a monument to a "Lord Soulis" erected in this Street, from which it takes its name.-
