Situated on the Summit of "Gallows Knowe". Was erected in 1772 from the Subscriptions of the Members, and is Supported Solely by the Congregation, Contains 750 Sittings,- there are two Approaches to this Church, Viz. from Wellington Street and Fulton's Lane. It was formerly Called and Known by the name of "Gallow's Knowe" UP [United Presbyterian] Church, but latterly the name has been Changed to its present name.

018 A Conspicuous and well known Knowe. Situated between Wellington Street and Fulton's Lane, so Called it is Said in Consequence of its being the place of execution in the days of Feudalism. There is a Church erected on its Summit, with Several dwelling houses & Gardens Adjacent.
