179 A low fertile island of vast extent, joining the extreme point on the west side of "Loch Sween"; The South point & west side is numerously indented with little Creeks, bays, and sharp rocky points. There is abundance of Limestone on the island, & is being Constantly worked by the proprietor Campbell Esqr. of Inverneill! The Kiln & store being near the north west end. The island is separated from the mainland by a narrow channel, across which an embankment was Constructed of late years.
