146.13 | Graveyard - The name now as applied to the graveyard is obsolete, but it applied to the home farm of Colonsay in the anglicised form of "Kiloran". It is probable that in this place may have stood a chapel dedicated to Saint Oran. About 30 years ago, while improvements were being made, on S.E (South East) side of Colonsay House, a stone Coffin and human remains were found. This graveyard was used as a place of interment up to the time when the first portion of the mansion was erected in 1722. |
