Carriage and Horse Tax
In the Royalty of the Burgh of Lauder from 10 Oct 1785 to 5 April 1786 by William Hogg Survr [Surveyor]
I William Hogg, Surveyor of Taxes Do Hereby Certify that upon carefull
Examination of the Foregoing Account of Dutys on Carriage & Saddle
Horses in the Burgh of Lauder I find they Amount to Two Pounds
Five Shillings Stirling. And that upon the 10th. January 1786 I
delivered to Mr Robert Romanes Collector of Said Dutys an Exact
Duplicate of the foregoing & which contained my Oath that the
foregoing Inhabitants were Served with Requisitions of the dates
aforesaid, & that they are Charged from the Answers which they gave [to]
me & that are in my possession.
