Survey of the CART TAX. in Berwickshire
from 5 April 1789 to 5 April 1790 by William Johnstone Surveyor

I William Johnstone Surveyor do hereby Certify That upon carefull examination
I find the foregoing duties amount to the sum of Twenty two pounds Eighteen
shillings Ster. [Sterling] And that upon the 8 Decem. [December] 1789 I Delivered to David Renton
Collector of said duties an exact duplicate of this Accompt duly examined and
Compared which contained my Oath That the foregoing Inhabitants were duly served
with Requisitions And that they were charged in conformity to their several returns
Or according to my knowledge & belief That they were liable in said duties
