A Survey of the Duty on two Wheeled Carts Arisen in the Burgh of Aborbrothwick for one
year commencing the 5th April 1786 and ending the 5th April 1787 by William Greig Surveyor
I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon careful examination of the fore-
[going] several Duties I find they Amount to two Pounds Eighteen Shillings Sterling & that upon the [--]
1787 I delivered to Mr John Colvill Colector of the said Duties for the Burgh aforesaid an
[exact] Duplicate of the above account (as will appear from [--] hereunto fixed) duly examined and
[compared] with the foregoing which contained my oath that notices were left with the Several per [persons]
before named or at their Dwelling houses of the respective Dates aforesaid requiring them to
[give] in a list of the Carts retained or employed by them from the 5th April 1785 to the 5th April 1786
[--] the foregoing Survey is made out from the acknowledgements of the Several persons
[therein] named that each of them keep & use one Cart or Carts for the purpose of hireing.

I Robert Aiken Surveyor aforesaid, Do hereby Certify, That upon Careful Examination of
the foregoing Rates and duties, I find they amount in whole to Five pounds fourteen shillings
sterling, And that upon the sixth day of January Current, I delivered to Mr James Johnston
Collector of said duties for said Burgh, an exact duplicate of, and duly examined & compared
with the foregoing Account, which contained my Oath, that Notifications were left or delivered of
the dates foresaid, and that the rates charged in said account were just and true to the best of my skill and
Knowledge, and to the best of my belief no person liable to be charged was omitted.

I Patrick McDonald Surveyor aforesaid hereby Certify that upon
Carefull Examination of the foregoing several Rates & Duties I find they amo=
=unt in whole to Ten Shillings Sterg.[Sterling] And that I delivered to James Anderson
Collector of the aforesaid Duties in the Town of Banff upon the 20th day of
December 1786 An Exact Duplicate of the above account which Contained
my Oath that notices were left with the whole foregoing Inhabitants
or at their Dwelling Houses of the Respective Dates aforesaid in Order that

I William Greig Surveyor, aforesaid, do hereby Certify, that upon carefull examina
tion of the foregoing several duties I find they amount to one Pound Eighteen Shillings Ster
ling, & that upon the [--] 1787, I delivered to Alexander Valentyne Collector of the said
Duties fot the Burgh aforesaid, an exact Duplicate of the above account, (as will ap
pear from [--] hereunto fixed) duly examined & compared with the foregoing
which contained my oath that notices were left with the several persons before named
or at their dwelling houses of the respective dates aforesaid, requiring them to give in a
list of the carts retained or employed by them from 5th April 1785 to the 5th April
1786 that the foregoing Survey is made out from the acknowledgements of the Several

I John Veitch surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon
Carefull examination of the foregoing rates and Duties I
find they amount in whole to the sum of one pound two
shillings sterling and that upon the 8th december 1786
I transmitted to John McAuly Collr. [Collector] of said duties for the
shire aforesaid an exact duplicate of the above account
duly examined and Compared with the foregoing which
Contained my oath that requisitions were left with the
several foregoing Inhabitants or at their dwelling houses
with the dates annexed to their respective names and that
the assessments were made from the answers sent me

delivered to James Dick Collector of the said Duties for the Burgh [afore]

I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon careful examination of the
foregoing Several duties I find they Amount to in Whole one Pound Twelve Shillings Sterling
& that upon the [--] 1787 I delivered to Archibald Thornton Colector of the said Duties for the
Burgh aforesaid an exact Duplicate of the above recount (as will appear from [--] hereunto
fixed) duly examined & compared with the foregoing which contained my oath that not=
-ices were left with the several persons before named or at their dwelling houses of the respect-
=ive dates aforesaid requiring them to give in a list of the carts retained or employed by them
from the 5th of April 1785 to the 5th April 1786 that the foregoing Survey is made out from each

Examination, of the foregoing Rate and Duty I find it amounts to Two shillings sterling
and that upon the thirtieth day of March, JaivijC and eighty seven years [1787] I Delivered
to Donald Campbell Esqr Collector of the Cess and of the said Duty for the Burgh
aforesaid an exact Duplicate of the above accompt duely Examined and Compared
with the foregoing which contained my Oath That notification was given to the
foregoing person or left at his Dwelling house of the Date aforesaid and that the
foregoing Survey or Assessment was made up from the return made to me

Several duties I find they amount to Eight Shillings Sterling, and that upon the [--] day of March 1787
I delivered Mr [--] Collector of the Said duties for the Burgh aforesaid an exact
Duplicate of the above Account (as will Appear from [--] hereunto fixed) duly examined and
Compared with the foregoing which contained my Oath that nottices were left with the Severall
persons before named or at their dwelling houses of the respective dates aforesaid, requiring them
within fourteen days to give in a list of the Carts employed by them from the 5th April 1785 to the 5th
April 1786 that the foregoing Survey is made out from the lists returned to me, and from the acknow=

I Robert Aiken Surveyor aforesaid, Do hereby Certify, That upon careful
Examination of the foregoing rates and duties, I find they amount in
whole to Two pounds two shillings sterling And that upon the fifth day of
January current, I delivered to Mr. Robert McMillan Collector of
said duties for said Burgh an Exact Duplicate of and duly
Examined and Compared with the foregoing Account which contained my
Oath that Notifications were delivered or left of the dates foresaid And
that the Rates charged in said Account were just and true charges
to the best of my skill and knowledge; and to the best of my belief
no person liable to be charged, was omitted.

I James Allan Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull
Examination of the foregoing Rates and duties I find they Amount in Whole
to Three pounds Eighteen Shillings Sterg. [Sterling] and upon the 16th Current I delivered
to Mr. William Napier Collector of the Said duties for the Borough aforesaid
an Exact duplicate of the above account duly Examined & Compared with
the foregoing which contained my Oath that Notices were left with the
severall foregoing Inhabitants or at their Dwelling Houses that they were

A Survey of the Duties on two Wheeled Carts arisen in the Burgh of Montrose
one Year, commencing the 5th April 1786 & ending 5th April 1787 by William Greig Surv. [Surveyor]
I William Greig Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon carefull examin
-ation of the foregoing several Duties, I find they amount in whole to
Two Pounds four Shillings sterling and that upon the [--] 1787 I delivered
to Mr Alexander Morrison Collector of the said Duties for the Burgh aforesaid
an exact Duplicate of the above Account (as will appear from
here unto fixed) duly examined and Compared with the foregoing which
contained my Oath that Nottices were left with the several persons
before named or at their dwelling houses of the respective dates afore
said, requiring them to give in a list of the Carts retained or imploy
-ed by them from the 5th April 1785 to the 5th April 1786 that the
foregoing Survey is made out from the acknowledgement of the
several persons therein named, that each of them keep & use
one Cart or Carts for the purpose of hireing nor can that be denyed by them

I Patrick McDonald Surveyor aforesaid Do hereby Certify t [that]
upon careful examination of the forgoing several Rates and
Duties I find that they amount in whole to Fourteen Shillings st [ster]
:ling and that I Delivered to David Kinloch Collector of said Du [Duties]
in the Town of Nairn upon the 29 Day of Decemr. [December] 1786 an ex [exact]
Duplicate of the above account duly Examined and compared
which contained my Oath that Notices were left with the who [whole]
Inhabitants or at their Dwelling Houses of the Date foresaid In
order that they might make a Report of the Greatest Num [Number]

I James Allan Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that upon
Carefull Examination of the foregoing Rates and duties I find they
Amount to in Whole Twelve Shillings Sterg [Sterling] and that upon the
16th Current I delivered to Mr Robert Chapman Collector of the Said duties
for the Town aforesaid and Exact duplicate of the above Account duly
Examined & Compared with the foregoing which Contained my Oath that
Notices were left with the foregoing Inhabitants or at their Dwelling Houses
that they were to be Charged with the Sums Set against their Names

I John Veitch Surveyor aforesaid do hereby Certify that

Duties I find the amount in the whole to the Sum of
one pound four shillings Sterling and that upon the
8th December 1786 I transmitted to James Cross Collr [Collector]
of said Duties for the shire aforesaid an exact Duplicate

Stirling Borough Continued
I James Allan Surveyor aforesaid, do hereby certify That upon
Carefull Examination of the foregoing Rates and duties I find they amount
In whole, to Four pounds Ten Shilling Sterg. [Sterling] and that upon the 30th Novr [November]
last I delivered to Mr. John McGibbon Collector of the Said duties for
the Borough aforesaid an Exact duplicate of the Above Account duly
Examined and Compared with the foregoing which Contained my Oath
that Notices were left with the foregoing Imhabitants or at their Dwelling
Houses that they were to be Charged with the Sums hereby Certified to
be due from them
