This Category C Listed church was demolished in early 1967.
(Undated) information from Demolitions catalogue held in RCAHMS library.
St Katherine's Chapel is mentioned in a charter dated 1470. It was rebuilt 1508-13 and dedicated to St Duthac Katherine and Mary Magdalene. It was a narrow oblong red sandstone building, having no architectural ornament except a belfry in the W gable. Newburgh became a parish in 1622, and the chapel, served as the parish church, until taken down in 1832 when the present church was built (1876).
A Laing 1876; Fasti Eccles Scot 1950.
No trace of either church. Site now occupied by modern housing.
