Stone built cottage situated on NW shore immediately SW of the N engine room and oil store (NT28SE 5.26). Annotated as 'Officers' on a pre-1st World War plan and as 'Quarters' on a later WO plan of the Island (RCAHMS MS 879/83).
The building measures about 22m by 9m, E to W it has five window openings and a blocked entrance on the NW-facing elevation (seaward side). To the rear are two flat roofed outshots, which had become the later entrances. Two stone built chimney stacks to the front.
