Interior. Main mill building, teazling machine, also known as a 'teazling gig'. When woollen cloth is woven and taken in from the tenter frames, it is rough in appearance. Teazling (using the seed pods of the dipsacus fullonum) raises the cloth pile and is, along with shearing and raising, a finishing process

Interior. Main mill building, rear of Doffer which is part of the carding set. The Scribbler can be seen in the background. This splits the fibres into continuous slivers or 'slubs' after being moisturised with the application of oil in the scribbler (which begins the business of straightening out the fibres). The slubs then pass to the intermediate carding engine via the 'Scotch Feed' which can be seen on the left of the picture, thence to the Condenser carding engine.
