Maltman, Eyemouth, departed Eyemouth for fishing, in ballast, 6 lives lost, wind NNE10, foundered, total loss, off Burnmouth, Berwickshire. Source: PP Abstracts Returns of Wrecks and Casualties on Coasts of the UK [Record received incomplete]. NMRS, MS/829/69 (no. 3153). (Classified as wooden lugger: no cargo specified but registration number cited as BK 921 and date of loss as 14 October 1881). This vessel was overwhelmed off Burnmouth. Capt. Mattman.
