012.09 | This Site of Danish Stone is the place whereon Stood the Stone referred to by Semple and Robertson in their History of Renfrew, it is well Known in the locality the the Stone Stood at or about the Spot Represented on trace prior to its removal to where it now Stands west Side of And adjoining Stanely Reservoir. It appears the Stone was removed by the Paisley Water Commissioners to its present position in order to preserve it "A little to the west of Stanley castle, lately stood an ancient sculptured stone with figures on it, which may not improbably be connected with the boundaries of the forest so carefully fixed for its old lords," (See gift of "Stanley Castle" - Origines Par [Parochiales] Scotiae |
