010 The ruins of a fortified 'Grange' or farm house and court of offices situated on a commanding eminence on Barney Mains farm, the walls stand about 10 feet in height and part of the arched stone roof of the under story still remains, the name is derived from these arched roofs commonly called "The Vaults". This place is said to have been built by Sir John Seton of Barnes about 1475 when James III was engaged in war with Douglas and other Chiefs.
