Memorandum
That Robert Maxwell of Portrait & Hugh Maxwell of
Dalswinton having applyed to the Commissioners of
Supply for the Shire of Drumfries by petition Shewing
That the said Robert Maxwell having by Disposition dated
the Second of March Jaivijh [1700] and twenty eight Disponed to
the said Hugh Maxwell the Room and lands of Standalone
including Dalkepp Racklands & Jacksons Isle being that
part of the fourty Shilling land of Portract lying on the
North side of The Water of Nith & the room and land of Meikle
Mcwhanrick and the said lands so disponed being valued
with the rest of the Mains of Portract lying on the South
west side of the said water of Nith with the Fishing and
pertinents thereof yet belonging to the said Robert Maxwell
in Cumulo to Three Hundred Merks in the Valuation book
of the Shire & that it was agreed betwixt the petitioners That
in all time thereafter the land Tax Cess or Supplie Kirk &
& Manse Stents and other Publick burdons & Impositions imposed
or to be imposed on the said lands should be paid furth thereof
proportionally offaring to the then payable rents thereof in the
said petition particularly mentioned & expressed not withstand-
ing the Rents or yearly values of one or the other or all of the said
Lands Should or might thereafter be thereafter be raised lessened or altered
as ane Contract of Agreement dated the third & fifth days of June
did proport and therefore praying the said Commissioners
of Supply to proportion & divide the foresaid Three Hundred
Merks to which the said whole lands and pertinents are valued
in Cumulo in the Valuation books of the Shire upon the
foresaid lands now belonging respectively to the petitioners
Accordingly and to appoint the Collector to receive from
them or their Tennants their own rexive proportionall
Shares of the Supply or Land tax payable furth of the
said lands which petition having been Considered by the
said Commissioners of Supply They by their Deliverance
thereupon dated the Sixth of June jaivijh [1700] and twenty nine
Found the desire thereof reasonable & appointed a Committee
of their number to proportion their valuation as is
therein desired and appointed the Collector to receive in the
Supply as the same should be proportioned by the said
Committee in time coming which Committee having
Considered the Cost of Supply made upon the Severall
lands above mentioned They by their deliverance or Act
dated the Eleventh day of December Jaivijh & twenty nine
years Found that the Severall proportions thereof vizt.
Seventy five pounds ten Shillings Six pennies Scots valuation
for the Mains of Portract belonging to Robert Maxwell lying
on he South side of the Water of Nith Eighty three pounds
Eighteen Shillings and four pennies Scots valuation for the
lands of Standalone including Racklands and Jacksons Isle
fourty pounds Eleven Shillings two pennies Scots valuation for
the lands of Meikle Mcwhanrick now belonging to Dalswinton
Make up the Sum of Two hundred pounds Scots or Three hundred
Merks being the former valuation of the sd [said] whole lands when valued
in Cumulo & Therefore Approved of the sd [said] Cast & Division & ordain'd
the Collector of Supply to receive the Supply due out of the said lands
Since the date of the said Contract & in time coming according
as the same are above proportioned which petition & Deliverance
as thereupon foresaid are Ingrossed in the Sederunt book of the
Commissioner of Supply
